Doctor Robert Chase
Intensivist MD
Chase is more than a little surprised he's amongst the first in the office when he walks in. Really, though, it isn't too much of a shock as he'd not left the hospital over night. NICU called him in just as he took a step out (which was always in their fashion) and he was spending the night cosied up to the coffee maker and the occasional vending machine.

But after catching a few hours sleep in an emptied office, he's good as new. Well, he's a little ruffled (hair a mess, shirt wrinkled, tie slackened) but that shouldn't matter too terribly.

Well, not to him, anyway. So he leans against the counter with his coffee mug pressed between both hands and he's seriously considering the crossword long forgotten on the table.

"In the moment when I truly understand my enemy, understand him well enough to defeat him, then in that very moment I also love him. I think it's impossible to really understand somebody, what they want, what they believe, and not love them the way they love themselves. And then, in that very moment when I love them, I beat them."
